If you found yourself in a situation were you had no other options, how comfortable are you in your ability to take back control?


We offer both a cardio-intensive kickboxing classes (for all levels)  -or-  our 8-class street-defense program (with a 2 hr foundation class) where you will learn the fundamentals in street defense, both physically and mentally. 



In Kickboxing - Intensive Cardio, you'll train in:


  • Awareness, stances, ranges of combat, target areas
  • Striking & blocking efficiently and tactically
  • Power, intensity, and muscle-memory
  • Combinations



In Street-Defense, ou self-defense program, you'll train in:


  • Awareness, stances, ranges of combat, target areas
  • Striking & blocking efficiently and tactically
  • Trapping range, and navigating the zones of combat
  • Defenses against takedowns
  • Escapes from common grabs, holds, control moves
  • Ground survival
  • Weapons defense (e.g.: knives, baseball bats, chairs,...)
  • Scenario training

Kickboxing - Intensive Cardio


Intensive 55min workout, learning and applying the fundamentals. No experience necessary.


Each class is $30.   We offer 10-packs for $270.

Street Defense - The Fundamental 8


The course sequence follows in the order below, starting with Foundation and continuing sequentially until 8-weeks later we end with Weapons before starting all over again. The only suggested prerequisite is your first course should be the Foundation session. In addition to being offered in the regular 8-week rotation, Foundation course (a.k.a. Class X) is offered every Saturday.


Note that while we suggest starting with Class X, you may join in the week with all the other students as your subsequent order is not important (e.g.: your 2nd class can be Week 4, Trapping Range and you could continue on and end at Striking).


The initial class [Class X] is 2hrs, and $42.50. Each subsequent class is 1hr and $30.00.   If you'd prefer to sign up for all 8 up front, it is $235.

While we recommend completing all 8-classes, you are not required to complete them all. Each class may be pay-as-you-go, though we offer a reduced price for the combined package (see above).

Foundation - 2 hrs

Offered 1 day every week, this is the suggested prerequisitet you should take when beginning the street-defense program.

Striking - 1 hr

Learn how to effectively strike with different punches and kicks, knowing where to hit and why. 


Combinations - 1 hr

It's almost never a single strike but a multitude that ends an attack. Know the flow of a combination.


Trapping Range - 1 hr

The range when someone is grabbing you in close, and how to stay standing and get out


Escapes - 1 hr

Blocks to common holds, like head locks, bear hugs, throws, and multiple chokes (how to block and how to initiate)

More Escapes - 1 hr

Counters to common grabs, like hair, arms, shoulder, neck, and multiple wrist locks (both how to block and how to initiate)

Ground - 1 hr

Being on the ground is the last place you want, but learn how to escape and take back control


Weapons - 1 hr

Defense against attacks from assailants with baseball bats, chairs, chains, and knives (both how to block and how to initiate) 

About TACTICALSelf


We're Toronto-based, providing private self-defense training service across the city. Now, we are offering core group sessions based on our experiences. Our group training is currently at a location in midtown -- Eglinton & Avenue. 


The style is a combination of multiple styles, a mixed martial art. Specifically:  boxing, kickboxing, brazilian jiu-jitsu, aikido, karate, judo, muay thai, and select movements from a multitude of others. Taking what works for street, discarding what doesn't. Note that our program is specifically geared towards no-holds barred fighting with street rules (i.e. truly no rules).  


We teach the foundation in survival.
